Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder that there will be no Tuesday session of Newtown playgroup next Tuesday 1st May.
This is because we are all invited to attend the Zone fun day instead. It will be held between 10-12 at The Addission Road Centre in Marrikville. There will be a kids train, sausage sizzle, Playdough tables etc. I’ve attached a copy of the poster with all the details. It is a free event run by the Zone and all are welcome!
Newtown Playgroup are hosting the play dough station so come and say hi to your fellow playgroup pals.
Hope to see you all there!
Warm wishes,
Newtown Playgroup Committee
PS: If anyone would like to make a batch of play dough for our play dough station it would be most welcome. So far we have Jan making a double green batch, I’ve made a double yellow and a single pink…… but apparently it is a very popular station so we will need a few more batches.
As recommended by our talented lay dough maker Elizabeth I have been using the recipe from the back of the Creme of Tartar tin. I just store it in a large zip lock and put it in the fridge like we do at playgroup. If you keep your receipts for the ingredients, we can reimburse you, just speak with a committee member to arrange it.
We also need a few people to take turns just hanging out the station and keep and eye on things. If you can spend 15 mins taking a turn at the station on the day it would be appreciated.
Play dough recipe: From back of the cream of Tartar tin.
Ingredients:
2 cups of plain flour
4tbs of Mckenzies Cream of Tartar
2tbs of cooking oil
1 cup of salt
Food colouring
2 cups of water
Mix the ingredients in a saucepan. Stir over medium heat for 3-5 mins or until the mixture congeals. Knead after cooking to get good consistancy. Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Lasts a very long time!
Alice enjoys making it with me and playing with it whilst its still all warm!
